HOME RUN

Last night was the game of all games....and it was only the second game of the season.  We went into TWO extra innings!  Christian's friend Jorge  started off pitching.  Christian pitched 2nd and 3rd inning.  Another no - hitter! Meanwhile about the 3rd inning, Jorge came up to bat and got a home run sending in 2 runs besides himself.  a few batters later, Christian stepped up to the plate and he knocked the ball to the outfield for a home run, sending in 3 more runs.  Up 11 - 7  with two outs...coaches took Christian off the mound and put in another pitcher. The Sidewinders ended up tying the game.   Time was up... umps were calling the game, with the home team batting last.  5th inning came and we didn't do much in batting - no score.  6th inning the Sidewinders were up to bat.... SCORE....but not the end of the story.  WE were home team :) ....and we PULLED IT OFF!!!   Alpine Rattlers  2 wins - 0 losses!

.....and the W with the rattler is from the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers!  It is the emblem on our hats!

1st Tooth

Carson lost his 1st tooth today - the old fashion way!  He was SO proud to have a loose tooth.  We told him to wiggle it everyday, and when he wiggled it today, it fell out.  Now we have 3 missing teeth.  I think the one beside it is loose too, so it won't be long and he won't have any teeth in the front of his mouth!

Relay & Baseball

RELAY
Last night was Relay for Life and from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. I was out in the freezing cold walking around and around the track in the wee hours of the morning.  I had a great time with friends, and did well with being up all night for the 1st time in a decade or two!

BASEBALL
Christian had his 1st game Saturday noon.  Alpine goes all out for the boys!  They have an announcer that announces their names before the game, and while at bat.  They also play music during inning changes, just like the" big leagues".  Christian threw 48 pitches  for  4 innings and the other team only scored 1 point!  The Rattlers won 12-1!  GO RATTLERS!

BICYCLE RODEO

Christian rode his bicycle to school today, to participate in the annual Bicycle Rodeo.  A group comes in, shows a video that teaches bicycle safety.  Kindergarten gets to see the video, but they do not participate:(  The kids get their bikes,  go to the  parking lot,  and do a series of maneuvers.  Volunteers helped at each station,  to keep the  chaos down to a bare minimum.   There were a few crashes, but no serious injuries!

EASTER 09

WOW!  We had one WINDY day for Easter.  The temp was in the 70's, sun shining, and wind  gusts up to at least 40 mph.  We went to church in Fort Davis with some friends, ate lunch with them and went to another easter egg hunt.  The boys filled their baskets to the top!  They had a great time!  I think next year we will skip Alpine and just do Fort Davis:)

Petting Zoo in Alpine

Last week we had a petting zoo set up near the post office.  We took the boys one afternoon after school and met up with some friends.  Christian and Carson rode the Camel!

Easter Hunt gone WILD!

Thursday, Alpine Elementary school, had their Easter Egg hunt for all the little kids!  You know me, I had my camera ready for the action.  Carson was excited and ready to go.  Out of the starting gate they went as the whistle blew.  Then just as Carson was nearing the egg he was eyeing - his  legs gave out and down he went basket went flying, tears went streaming, blood started oozing from his elbow and hand--and he was DONE!  We headed for the nurses station and left the mayhem of the hunt. I was sad because he didn't get to participate in all the excitement but he never complained or whined!  Guess we'll have to have an egg hunt for him this weekend:)  Here is all the action!
